Let's set the record straight, there is absolutely nothing cute about being depressed. There's no struggle to have people understand you. Your significant lover doesn't try their best to make sure you're happy again. Essentially, you're screwed. And there's really not much you can do about it. Sure, you have your moments, but honestly, when does thinking positively ever beat the satisfaction of crying on the floor for several hours? Never. It never does.
Emotions are Terrifying:
Jumping to the worst possible outcome? Check. Crying because someone looked at you a little too long? Check. The sudden urge to run an empty parking lot, because it feels like you're being choked to death? Super triple check.
Depression is different for everyone, but a lot of the time, you get hit with too many emotions at once. And there's nothing fun about it.
Interests? Who needs them!
Remember that awesome book you got into? Or what about your refined painting skills you've mastered over the years? Say goodbye to any real hobbies! For the next few weeks, you'll be spending your time under six layers of blankets, binge watching shows on Netflix, (bonus points if you're on YouTube,) potentially laying off any and all real world work, and getting completely lost in your own head!
But it's all worth it when you're going for the aesthetic.
You're not always Sad:
Sometimes you're angry. Sometimes you're annoyed. Sometimes you can't explain what you're feeling, and you feel hopeless and helpless because of it. Need I say more?
It comes and goes:
Depression is a tricky thing. Sure, you can be triggered by something, but a lot of the time, it just happens. A huge misconception of this, is that you need to have a 'reason,' to feel depressed, which is stupid. Sometimes your brain just feels crappy, and you just do for awhile. It can have a mind of it's own, but still, it has it's own agenda.
This is the basic gist of depression. I could go on forever on what else happens, but nine times out of ten, this is what goes on. What more should I say, depression is very complex. You not only feel awful, but your mood is all over the place. It differs from person to person, this could totally be inaccurate for someone else, but from my experience, welcome to depression 101.
